Set General Settings for a Collector
Navigate to the Admin – Setup page and click the “General” tab to configure settings for your servers in AppFirst. Click on a server to configure its settings.
Give your server a nickname to make it easier to search and find in AppFirst.
The frequency in which the collectors uploads the data it has been collecting.
The amount of disk space the collector will use to store data if we lose internet connectivity. When we re-establish connectivity we will upload all of the data.
Max Path Names
The maximum number of pathnames the collector will send with each upload. Pathnames are often the biggest part of each upload, since they can be really long. Usually, 1024 is more than enough. If the collector seems to be taking up a lot of CPU or network bandwidth, try setting this to a smaller number. You can even set it to 0 to turn off pathnames.
The directory on the server where the collector temporarily stores information. This defaults to /opt/AppFirst/data on Linux and C:\Program Files\AppFirst\AppAccess\data on Windows (this is unchangeable on Windows).
Polled Data Frequency
Determines how often polled data scripts are run. Please note that this setting must be a multiple of both 60, and whatever the Collect Frequency is set at.
Include/Exclude Processes from Collection
Exclude Processes from Collection
A list of processes and directories on the server that should NOT be monitored by the collector. Separate with semi-colons.
*Note: On Windows, C:\Windows\System32 is excluded by default. To see processes in this directory, remove it and click Save.
Include Processes for Collection
A list of processes and directories on the server that should be monitored by the collector. These override items on the exclude list, so an item in both will be monitored by the collector. Separate with semi-colons.
*Note: If you add a process in the Include line, you’ll need to restart the process/service in order for our collector to pick it up.
